JET Air Motion Transformer Tweeter
Delivering true high-definition sound, ELAC’s JET tweeters enthrall with their lightning-fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom, and a wider frequency range. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image.
Compound Curvature Aluminum Woofer
To complement the prowess of the JET tweeter and ensure a smooth shift from the woofer, an innovative compound curvature cone has been engineered. Its purpose is to effectively manage cone breakup, extending it far beyond the woofer’s operating range. Further enhancing the speaker’s capabilities, a sizeable voice coil and an oversized vented pole piece magnet have been integrated, delivering exceptional bass dynamics and robust, powerful performance.
Downward Firing Port
The bass reflex port on the Carina series is designed to exit downward from the bottom of the speaker cabinet, allowing for greater flexibility in speaker placement and reducing ventilation noise.
Acoustically Optimized Cabinets
Each Carina enclosure undergoes meticulous engineering, featuring sturdy MDF outer walls and elegant satin painted finishes. Strategically positioned internal bracing enhances the cabinet’s structural integrity, minimizing vibrations that could otherwise distort the sound and introduce unwanted coloration.
Design Goals
ELAC’s design goal for the Carina series was to build on the success of the 240 series, maintaining the ELAC heritage with a modern contemporary design. The key objectives were:
- Develop new driver designs to offer differentiation
- Enhance the aesthetics with refined shapes and materials
- Use die-cast baskets with a diamond cut but remove rectangular metal around the driver
- Utilize JET Technology
- Maintain a consistent family look
- Preserve the traditional look but modernize it

Aluminum Woofer
Compound Curvature Cone. Utilizing a single-piece cone construction with compound curvature, the cone has been optimized for extended response and pure piston operation throughout its operating range, to seamlessly blend with the JET tweeter. A rigid cast chassis supports an oversize magnet with a large vented pole piece to maximize drive force, minimize non-linearity and provide increased power handling and dynamic impact.
Air Motion Tweeter
JET. Delivering true high-definition sound, ELACs JET tweeters have been at the forefront of tweeter performance, providing extended high-frequency response, wide directivity, and high efficiency for lightning-fast response and wide dynamic range.
Downward Firing Port
The die-cast double-flanged super silent bass reflex port on Carina faces downwards, exiting the bottom of the speaker cabinet to be redirected outwards, minimizing vent noise and allowing for more flexible speaker placement.
